Aliya N. Husain, MD

Dr. Husain received her medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Pakistan and completed her residency training in Pathology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Husain completed a fellowship year in Surgical Pathology before joining the faculty of the Loyola University Medical Center in 1987. Dr. Husain came to the University of Chicago in 2002 as an Associate Professor. She was promoted to Professor in 2004.

Since joining the University of Chicago faculty, Dr. Husain has made an immediate impact in the Pritzker School of Medicine. Currently the Co-Course Director for Clinical Pathophysiology and Therapeutics with Dr. Scott Stern, she has worked to make this course a model for interdisciplinary learning by incorporating cases and pathological images, and utilizing the skills and expertise of faculty from throughout the Biological Sciences Division. The course is one of the most highly regarded in the Pritzker curriculum. In 2006, Dr. Husain was honored in the Pritzker School of Medicine’s graduating class composite photo. The author of more than nine book chapters and over fifty publications, Dr. Husain’s research is widely used by health professionals throughout the country.
