David Meltzer, MD, PhD

April 17, 2008David Meltzer, MD, PhD, along with colleagues William Dale, MD, PhD (Geriatrics), Sam Sisodia, PhD (Neurosciences), and Vineet Arora, MD, MPH (Medicine), have been approved to receive funding from the National Institute on Aging (a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health) through a T-35 training grant. This new grant will help support student projects as related to issues of geriatrics and aging throughout the Summer Research Program, an annual experience that pairs students with faculty mentors as they work collaboratively on an 11-week research project.

The NIA grant joins two already established funds from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders (NIDDK) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Dr. Eugene B. Chang, Professor of Medicine, and Dr. William A. McDade, Associate Dean for Multicultural Affairs and Associate Professor of Anesthesia & Critical Care, obtained these grants respectively.
