Early Match Timeline

April - June

 

 Plan For The Residency Process
  • Meet with a career advisor to determine career and specialty choice
  • Explore specialty web resources
  • Sign up for USMLE Step II CK & CS
Late June - July Schedule a MSPE Appointment with Dr. Herbert Abelson (email Candi Gard to schedule)
June - September Prepare your residency application:
  • Write and finalize your personal statement
  • Contact faculty for letters of recommendation
  • Complete ERAS applications
  • Sign up on NRMP website
Mid June Urology applicants can register online at the AUA website and will receive an identification number within 2 weeks that should be given to every program with which they interview.

Urology programs have the option to participate in ERAS. Applicants should investigate the process of application program by program.

Applicants for Ophthalmology and Child Neurology can register online at the San Francisco Matching Service to begin working on their applications via the Central Application Service.
July - October Finalize Your Residency Application
  • Read and approve your MSPE
  • Choose programs to which you wish to send applications
  • Take the Step II Ck & CS USMLE Exams
August 27, 2008 Target date for completion of Central Application Service materials for Child Neurology (San Francisco Match).
September 3, 2008 Target date for completion of Central Application Service materials for Ophthalmology (San Francisco Match).
October-December Interview & Decide Your Rank Order
  • Accept interviews quickly within 2-3 days
  • Contact the Alumni Office for the Overnight Host Program with a Pritzker graduate
  • Meet with your career advisor after you're done interviewing to discuss how to rank your programs

Set up an appointment with David Zupko or Lori Orr to discuss your transcript
January 5, 2009 Deadline for Urology applicants to submit preference lists on line to AUA Residency Matching Program.
January 8, 2009 Deadline for Ophthalmology applicants to submit their rank lists to the San Francisco Match.
January 14, 2009

Deadline for Child Neurology applicants to submit their ranks lists to the San Francisco match.
January 15, 2009 Results of San Francisco Match for Ophthalmology are emailed to Deans
January 21, 2009 Results of San Francisco Match for Child Neurology are faxed to Deans.
January 26, 2009 Results of Urology Match emailed to Deans
If you match with a urology program, check to see if you must go through the formality of the NRMP match for surgery training at that same institution. If appropriate, submit your ranking list to the NRMP with code provided.

Late registration deadline at NRMP

Applicants and programs must certify their rank order lists by 9:00 PM eastern time. Staff will be available to answer questions during the final deadline hours.
March 19, 2009 Match Day
Regular Match results for applicants are posted to the NRMP website at 1:00 pm EST.
March - June Prepare to Graduate
