Frequently Asked Questions
Research Questions
Q. I have been asked to present a poster/abstract at a national meeting. Who can help me fund my trip?
A. The Pritzker School of Medicine has limited funding to support students who represent Pritzker or present an abstract or poster at regional or national conferences. To apply for this funding, download the application below and return it to Lori Orr in the PSOM at least 8 weeks before your planned trip.
Q. Where can I find information about research funding sources?
On the Medical Student Research Funding Sources page you will find additional links to medical student research funding sources as well as international and service opportunities.
Q. I have a friend from another school who may be interested in participating in the Pritzker Summer Research Program, can they?
A. There is an order of preference that is followed when considering potential research candidates. The priority is as follows: first year Pritzker students; Pre-Pritzker undergraduates (accepted to enter Pritzker applicants); University of Chicago College students (under represented students only); Non-university College students. Due to an overwhelming response from our own first year students, lately, there haven’t been any slots available for students from other institutions.
Q. I would like to participate in this year’s Summer Research Program but I would like to do my research in another state or another country, is this permitted?
A. Students who participate in the Summer Research Program cannot conduct research outside the University of Chicago because they are required to participate in cluster group discussions with a research team leader and students with similar interests. These cluster groups are located at the university. For more information, please visit the Summer Research Program section of this site.
