Clinical Competency

GMSP trainees are encouraged to participate in 3-4 clinical experiences throughout the year. Participants have the option of serving at the University of Chicago Travel Clinic or through a clinical experience in the Emergency Department. Participation in 3-4 clinical experiences is a requirement for all applicants to the Out-of-Country Experience.

Travel Clinic Experience

For GMSP participants interested in shadowing in the infectious disease travel clinic, please contact Keren Hahn to schedule. The travel clinic is open Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons for shadowing experiences.

Emergency Department Experience

For GMSP participants interested in shadowing in the emergency department, please contact Chrissy Babcock to schedule. The emergency department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week; therefore, any time that is convenient for applicants can be arranged.
