| Betty Ford Center: Summer Institute for Medical Students | |

| Purpose: | The Summer Institute provides a unique learning experience for medical students to gain understanding and insight into addictive disease and the recovery process. Successful applicants spend five days experiencing wht it is like to be a patient or a family member at the Betty Ford Center. |

| Cedars-Sinai Center Department of Surgery Surgical Scholar Award | |
| Purpose: | To provide fourth-year medical students the opportunity to sub-intern with Faculty Physicians at Cedars-Sinai in the surgical fields of: Acute Care, Advanced General, Cardiac, Colorectal, Minimally Invasive/Bariatric, Pediatric, Intensive Care, Oncology/Breast, Thoracic, Transplantation, Vascular |
| Eligibility: | Entering fourth-year, full-time medical student in good academic standing. Candidates should demonstrate a desire to enter a surgical training program. |

| Center for Disease Control: Epidemiology Elective | |
| Purpose: | The purpose of the elective is to provide an introduction to preventive medicine, public health and the principles of applied epidemiology. Students are offered the oppportunity to actively assist in the epidemiologic investigation of infectious diseases. |
| Eligibility: | Senior medical students |
| Funds: | Students must pay cost of round-trip transportation to Atlanta and their living expenses during the elective. |

| Future Leaders in Preventive Medicine Travel Grant | |
| Purpose: | Preventive Medicine, 2008 is the annual meeting of the American College of Preventive Medicine. The travel grant covers conference registration, awards banquet tickets, and a portion of travel expenses and accommodations. |
| Eligibility: | Must be a member of the ACPM-MSS (or have submitted an application at the time of the deadline) |

| Illinois Academy of Family Physicians: Summer Externship Program | |
| Purpose: | To provide first-year medical students with an understanding of the scope of family medicine as a primary care specialty. Students experience clinical medicine by participating in the healthcare delivery to citizens of rural, urban and suburban communities. |
| Eligibility: | Students who have completed their first year of medical school |
| Funds: | $1,000 |

| Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addiction | |
| Purpose: | Offers training in the field of Addiction Services. |
| Eligibility: | Medical students |
| Funds: | $650 for 3-week session |

| Jewish Medical Ethics & Israel Experience Program | |
| Purpose: | To enable Jewish medical students to explore Jewish approaches to challenging medical issues confronting health care professionals. |

| Funds: | Apply for the Maimonides Scholars Fellowship, which awards up to $2,400 of the program fee to an applicant based upon merit and financial need towards payment of the program.Otherwise, program fee is $3,100, excluding air fare and meals. |

| Medical Students for Choice: Reproductive Health Externship Program | |
| Purpose: | To fund students’ efforts to obtain clinical exposure to abortion care through an externship. |

| National Rural Institute on Alcohol and Drug Abuse: Summer Scholarship | |
| Purpose: | Through the Scaife Family Medical Scholars and Allied Helath Professionals Track, this five day conference looks at the neurobiology of addiction and how to work with patient-addicts in a clinical setting. |
| Eligibility: | Medical students, residents, interns, and allied health professionals |
| Funds: | Scholarship will cover registration, resource materials, on-campus residence hall room, and all on-campus meals. You will also receive a $300 stipend at the end of the conference. |

| Paul Ambrose Scholars Program | |
| Purpose: | The three-day leadership symposium introduces health professions students to influential public health professionals and prepares them to be leaders in addressing public health challenges. |
| Eligibility: | Students must have five years of post-secondary education and be actively involved in medical school. |

| Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago: Summer Externship Program | |
| Purpose: | This eight-week program offers a unique and early clinical exposure related to the care of persons with acute and chronic disabilities for comprehensive rehabilitation. |

| Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health (SEARCH) | |
| Purpose: | Provides health profession students and residents with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary health care teams in under-served rural and urban areas. |
