Overview
This course is offered to fourth year medical students and focuses on the fundamentals of pediatric ophthalmology. Through observation, patient examination, observation of pediatric ophthalmology cases, and conferences in the outpatient department, students will participate in the diagnosis and management of patients
Objectives
To provide students with a variety of opportunities to learn the fundamentals of pediatric ophthalmology. By the end of the elective, the student should be able to perform ophthalmoscopy in pediatrics and recognize the more common eye diseases.
Evaluation
The student will be evaluated on their ability to do the following: ophthalmoscopy, knowledge of the diagnoses of pediatric cataract, nasolacrinial obstruction, and strabismus.
