This rotation spans 4 weeks.
In-Patient Rotation
Students join the daily in-patient morning rounds in the cardicc ICU, neonatal ICU and in-patient wards. Students accompany pediatric cardiology fellow and faculty members in assessing and managing patients as well as rounds with pediatric residents. Students are provided with the opportunity during these 2 weeks to attend procedures performed on children with heart diseases, such surgery, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures and echocardiography. Rounds typically end around 10am, thereafter; students join the out-patient clinic.
Out Patient Rotation
Students join the out-patient sessions at the pediatric cardiology out-patient clinic at 3E at the DCAM building at the University of Chicago. Clinic sessions occasionally cancel, therefore, please check a day ahead of time if the OP clinic will be held the next day.

Objectives
Provide senior medical students with the opportunity to participate in the management of children with heart diseases. Medical students will observe patient presentation, diagnosis and therapy of children with congenital and asquired heart diseases in the in-patient and out-patient settings.
Evaluation
Currently the students are evaluated based on their clinical inpatient and outpatient performances. MCQs in Pediatric Cardiology. Provided by Dr. Abdulla. Answers will be reviewed during the didactic sessions. Full-time, 1 month.
