Overview
A lecture-discussion course on selected topics in Cancer Biology that will vary from year to year but may include such subjects as metastatic progression, experimental animal models and systems, DNA-mediated gene transfer, cancer cytogenetics, chromosome damage and repair, growth factors, and cancer therapy. This year's topics will include discussion and evaluation of fundamental and cutting edge studies of metastasis and angiogenesis.
Objectives
To gain knowledge in these critical areas of cancer biology/research/therapy. To gain experience in the formulation of well-written, hypothesis-driven proposals/grants. To develop skills in oral and written expression of ideas, hypotheses and experimental plans in a clear and concise manner.
Evaluation
Students will perform paper/data presentations in class and write and present a brief research proposal.
