Overview
This course is offered to freshmen and Second year medical students and focuses on the fundamentals of clinical ophthalmology. Through observation, patient examination, and conferences in the outpatient department, students will participate in the diagnosis and management of patients.
Objectives
To provide students with a variety of opportunities to learn the fundamentals of ophthalmology. By the end of the elective, the student should be able to perform a basic eye exam and recognize the common eye diseases.
Evaluation
The student will be evaluated on their ability to do the following: examine the patient, knowledge of the diagnoses of conjunctivitis and red eye.

Schedule Notes
Mandatory Ten Hours - CD Rom Course "Basic Ophthalmology."
Arrange with instructor 4 hours per week in clinic or OR.
Locations: Both at Weiss and DCAM.
