Overview

The student will be exposed to a variety of instructional and clinical experiences that cover the spectrum of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Weekly seminars will cover such topics as management of autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, early emotional development, learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorders.

Objectives

1. To be able to briefly describe the limits of current diagnostic paradigms, especially regarding childhood and development.

2. To begin to learn and demonstrate the appropriate attitudes (especially as reflected in language use) regarding individuals with disabilities.

3. To be able to describe the most common elements in the diagnosis and management of children with the most common conditions served within the field of DBP (e.g., autism, LD, ADHD, CP).

Evaluation

Evaluation is based on observation of the student's participation in the experiences of the rotation.
