Overview

This course is designed primarily to introduce radiological imaging principles and image interpretation for second-year medical students who have just finished with CPP&T. The course is designed to follow CPP&T in mid April, adding to their basic knowledge on one of the most intriguing and dynamic specialties in contemporary medicine. Sessions are structured to cover basic principles of image interpretation by organ approach and diagnostic reasoning. Identify effective use of imaging in the medical practice, gain understanding of various imaging modalities (plain radiographs, contrast radiology, ultrasound, computed topography, etc. The course will emphasize basic common clinical scenarios they will encounter during clinical work starting that summer. An additional effort to prepare the students for Boards Part 1 imaging questions will be covered.

Objectives

Students should learn the basic principles of image interpretation and diagnostic reasoning, and the effective use of imaging in medical practice.

Evaluation

Grading is based on a midterm and final exam, attendance, participation, and performance.
