Overview
The student will observe and participate in the management of patients with surgical infections and will become familiar with techniques for laboratory diagnosis of surgical infections as well as participating in ongoing research projects in surgical microbiology. Research in plastic surgery covers a wide range of important topics including: 1) Control of scar tissue remodeling; 2) tissue biomechanics; 3) connective tissue fabrication; 4) heat transfer in humans; 5) computational modeling molecular dynamics and continum heat and electrical phenomenon; 6) peripheral nerve repair and others. Students will work directly with full time clinical and research staff.
Objectives
Research experience in one of the plastics laboratories or clinically related projects.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail -Evaluation based on the students performance in the laboratory.
